Update

Sadly, I haven't got one response from outside resources. I was keeping my fingers crossed, but no one replied. Maybe they are too busy taking care of young children! Instead I discovered new things that I thought were very informative from the website (http://developingchild.harvard.edu/initiatives/global_initiative/).

Some of their missions/initiatives are:
Early Childhood Policies and Procedures
Focusing on children's mental health--especially the mental health of children affected by HIV/AIDS
Providing more research globally.

This website has a lot of great resources and articles. Please check it out!!!

Dear Rebekah,

I'm sorry you haven't received a response from your outside resources. I agree with you that this website has a lot of great resource and articles. I recently just mention this website for my discussion post. The Center’s commitment to global work represents both an acknowledgement of moral responsibility to meet the needs of all children and a critical investment in the roots of economic productivity, positive health outcomes, and strong civil society in all nations, from the poorest to the most affluent (Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, 2010). This policy is all about meeting the needs of children across the world, and improving their life outcomes.

I have to use the alternative assignments because I was unable to make a contact connection. The site that I reviewed was Global Child Development. This site focuses on child development around the world. Some of its goals are:
Building a scientific agenda and community of scholars around early childhood development;
Synthesizing and translating scientific knowledge for application to social policy. This will include working with the Center’s longtime partner organization, Frameworks Institute, to effectively communicate the science of child development in the Brazilian cultural context;
Strengthening leadership around early childhood development through an executive leadership course for policymakers;
Translating and adapting the Center’s existing print and multimedia resources for a Brazilian audience.

I haven't been able to make contact with either. I guess they are busy just like the rest of us. I did enjoy the website, though. I found three videos on brain development that I will definitely be using in my Child Development course.
